Confessions of a corporate escapee turned website designer

After 35 years in the publishing and software industries, I longed to feel freer to work in ways that felt more creative and meaningful. But I didn’t know what that would involve. In a bold move of desperation, my husband and I quit our jobs, sold our house, and traveled in an RV for six months. That reset was just what we needed.

When a former coworker asked me for help with her website shortly after we stopped traveling, all my assorted experiences, interests, and talents lit up simultaneously. I realized then that website design was the way forward to a new career. It was all there: my knowledge of technology, a love and talent for graphic design and writing, an appetite for learning, and the desire to know the people I was helping.
